Spring Short or Spring Feature

So I am sitting at my desk trying to figure out whether or not we should shoot a short film or attempt to tackle the leviathan that is a feature length movie. So let me weigh out the pros and cons:

Short Film: We Vile Things

Pros:

1. My short is an action film and I have never done one of those.
2. The fast paced comic book style of action makes it a very watchable piece that can be put into festivals
3. Small cast.
4. Most of the film takes place in two or three locations so that means less scouting work.

Cons:

1. I dont want to make another short film.
2. It is an action film that requires either money or extreme ingenuity for some scenes.
3. A shorter film allows for less character development...which means I'd have to cast very good actors (which could also be a pro).
4. Though I wrote the script, I sacrificed some dramatic elements in order to facilitate more action.

Feature Film: We The People

1. Gripping and engaging film that if done right could springboard a company from obscurity to familiarity.
2. Dramatic movie with larger audience base
3. Most scenes can be easily scouted
4. Based on six individual stories that took place on election day 2004, with my own loosely based life story being one of them, it has become like a child to me.

Cons:
1. Feature length movie could possibly take years to produce.
2. Larger cast
3. Takes more money to shoot.
4. Larger crew.

I really don't know what I'm going to attack first. Maybe I will shoot We Vile Things at the outset just to see how things go.
